This sounds like a good book, too.  Car rides usually end in fun places like the Wiener Dog Races or the dog park!

What Am I?

When the Buda Wiener Dog Races wouldn't let me run, it got me thinking...

People seem obsessed with labels.  They're always asking what I am.

People usually point and smile and yell, "Wiener dog," or say, "I love dachshunds."  (Sometimes, they even say, "I love Datsuns," whatever that means.)  However, after that, they always say, "What else is he?"

What do they mean?  What am I?

I know what I am.  I'm obviously a small, fast, playful, brown puppy.  Still, people are always asking what I am.

Long-legged DachshundMy people say that I'm a dachshund mixed with an Italian greyhound.  They showed me these pictures.

DachshundItalian GreyhoundMaybe I am a mix, or maybe people are just obsessed with labels.  I have one last thing to say...

I'm a mutt... so what?!

YAY!!! I found a dachshund that looks like my Atlas :) No wonder they wouldn't let your Cody run, He would definitely win the races!! Atlas keeps up with our German Shepherds with no problem. I've told my hubby that we should enter Atlas b/c he would leave the others in the dirt! LOL. I like his stature more than the short dachshund. I got him from a friend and am told that he is full bred, but I'm having trouble finding many others like them. now, I'm wondering if I would be able to find another. ??

Thanks for the comment Kathy! It would be cool to meet Atlas. I've found some other pictures of pups that look like me by searching for either dachshund italian greyhound mix or dachsund whippet mix. I even found one by searching for dachshund minpin mix.

I don't know for sure what I am, but if Atlas is tall like me, I'll bet he's a mix, too. Mutts rule!

Hi Jon,

Thank you for the compliment! What is your puppy's name?

We could be related. Your puppy looks very sweet and very happy. I've never seen such a big tongue on such a little puppy, though! Maybe the puppy is part Great Dane. :-)

Thanks for sharing the great photos and for reading my posts!

You are adorable! You could be my Buddy's twin. I know for sure he is Dachshund / Min-Pin. I love your story!

What a beautiful dog - it looks exactly like our Kirby. We were told that Kirby was a full blooded dachsund . We were introduced to his parents and grandma. But as he grew his legs got taller and taller. We thought that he looks like a greyhound with a dachsound face. Kirby is 16 months old and we love him to death = we wouldn't trade him for the world. We sometimes call him Taz because he is so energetic.

Lorene, than you for your comment. That must have been a surprise when Kirby's legs got long, but I LOVE my long legs! Much better for hiking.
