Cold White Stuff Everywhere

Hi Friends!  It has been a long, long, long, long time since I last reported on my life.  That is what happens when you get a SECOND tiny human you have to protect.  Still, I had to make time to tell you about the crazy, crazy week just a little bit ago.

Life seemed pretty normal, when suddenly, the outdoors got very, very, very cold.  I have to remind you that on very hot days, I love to lay in the sun.  When it gets just a little cooler and my people put on their thin coats, I think it's a bit too cold to go outside.  (They do convince me to go outside eventually because I hate to make messes in the house.)

Still, on this day, it was much too cold to go outside for any reason.  I was not going to go outside willingly.  It was colder than I ever felt!

My people then got out my walking outfit, and I got excited.  Before I realized what happened, I let them put on my walking clothes and went outside.  The door locked behind me, and it was too late!

The upside-downTo make matters worse, there was cold, white stuff everywhere.  It was cold in the air, and it was cold on my feet, and it was cold everywhere.  I'm not sure what terrible thing had happened to do this to our home.  I was scared and felt a bit helpless.    I was able to take my walk, though, and was very glad to get home.

The next morning, I thought things would get better.  The sun was shining, so I looked forward to getting back outside. Little did I know that it would be even worse!!

The air was even colder than the day before, which didn't seem possible, and the white stuff grew!  However, I couldn't just walk on top of the white stuff, I kept sinking in to the ground!  Not only were my feet cold, now, my legs, and even my chest, were in the white stuff and it felt terrible.  It felt so terrible, in fact, that I sat down and cried after about 5 minutes and my person picked me up and took me inside.

Deep into the terrible cold stuff

Later that day, my person carried me out, and we found a trail through the white stuff.  It was not great, but at least the cold stuff only touched my feet I not my whole legs!

A path just for me!Friends, believe me when I tell you this was awful.  However, what was even more difficult was that each day, I woke up, and nothing got better.  Nothing.  It was this terrible world over and over again!

The only good part was that when I got back, I had the warmest spot in the house to recover!

Warming up after a miserable walkI truly thought that we'd never be warm again.  I saw a show with my little people recently where the queen froze the whole land, and I was sure that was what happened.  However, after what felt like a lifetime, the spell was broken and weather is normal again....Woof. Woof , Woof!!!

Answering Your Questions

I always like to see how people find my blog.  One way I do that is by looking at the searches that people do to find my blog.  Two recent searches were in the form of questions.  Since I consider my dog blog to be a public service, I will do my best to answer those questions.

Cody will now take your questions

The first question was "Is lemonade safe for puppies?" from search.aol.com.

I'm not a vet, so I really don't know the answer.  I know that I would love to drink lemonade because I would love to eat and drink everything that my people eat and drink.  However, my people don't let me drink lemonade and don't let me have anything with sugar.  So, either they think that lemonade isn't safe for puppies or they just want to keep it all for themselves.  I really don't know.

I do know that if it were up to me, I'd drink a pitcher of lemonade after a long hike, but that is just a dream.

Cody dreams about lemonadeThe second question was "I'm so tired.  Why don't my puppies sleep?" from www.google.com.sg.  My people tell me that this is from Singapore.  They say that Singapore is very far.  It's even farther than the Georgetown dog park, which is the furthest I've travelled.

I don't know why your puppies don't sleep, but I do know that when I was little, I couldn't sleep unless I was in the same room as my people.  I was very scared and lonely to be by myself in a new place.  I talk about those days here.  Also, when I was little, I liked to wake up even before my people did.  Now, I like to sleep later than them sometime!

I think the most important thing that helps me sleep, other than getting older and sleeping in my people's room, is getting a lot of exercise like playing and hiking and chasing rabbits and guarding the house.  When I get a lot of exercise, I sleep like a dog.

Resting after an awesome and cool hikeI hope that this helps the nice people who were searching for answers.  If you have any questions, you can ask me directly by using my "Tell me what you think" link.  I'll do my best to answer them as a public service to all puppies and people who read my dog blog.

A Hike!

Today, we did one of my favorite things.  We took a hike!

There are so many great smells on a hike.  It's impossible for me to smell them all.  My people don't seem to really appreciate all of the smells because they keep telling me to keep moving.  People can be pretty strange sometimes.

There were other people who were really strange and scary on the hike.  These people were moving very fast on wheels.  Most people were on 2 wheels, but there was one especially scary person on just one wheel.  He looked like he was out of control!  Luckily, none of these wheel-people hit me, but they always scare me a little.

On alert for danger!

I was surprised at how dry the trail was.  Even the river didn't have any water.  The only water was in a black bag carried by my people.  I was glad they had some water to share with me.  They may act strange at times, but my people always think ahead!

After the hike, my people went to a place that smelled really good!  They call the place "Tacodeli".  I like the smells, but my people always forget to give me food when we go there.  My people eat, but they don't share with me.  I think they're just distracted by all of the good smells, too.

Just out of reach! To make things worse, my people won't even let me reach all of the good food that's on the ground!  *Sigh*

Despite the issues with the food, today was a great, great day with great smells and a lot of activity.  Now, I'll have to rest up for the next great adventure.  I'm pretty tired!
